If You’re Going to be in Hawaii at the End of July…

I’ve been invited to speak, lead worship, and give a concert alongside Dr. Don Whitney, Professor of Biblical Spirituality at Southern Seminary (Louisville, KY), for the oustanding Waterhouse Lecture Series in Honolulu, HI.  This event is FREE and will be held at OlaNui Church on Friday and Saturday, July 28 and 29.  (On Sunday, Dr. Whitney will be preaching and I will lead music over at Waialae Baptist Church…come on down!)

If you’re part of my mainland readership and you happen to be in Hawaii during that time, chances are the last place you want to be is indoors. 🙂  But, if you’re part of my homeland Hawaii crew and want to jam a little bit on some really cool concepts relating to spiritual disciplines, spiritual formation, and worship, this free event is just for you.  Go here to register.

The theme for the weekend will be “The Spiritual Disciplines for the Purpose of Godliness,” and my contribution to the topic at hand will be a two-part seminar on “The Discipline of Worship: Why & How Corporate Worship Forms Us.”  My Friday evening concert will spill over out of the seminar, where we’ll sing and “exegete” worship songs that tease out the themes we’ve talked about that afternoon.

By the way…Dr. Whitney has a great site over at biblicalspirituality.org, with tons of resources and helps on spirituality, disciplines, formation, etc.  Check it out!
