About
“God Has Decided” is a kind of “hymn spoof” (I’ve done this with a few others) where I take the idea of an original hymn text and turn it on its head. “I Have Decided” has been a popular hymn of invitation/response which often has the effect of placing the onus on human agency in the event of salvation. I wanted to take the opportunity to cast salvation in the light of God’s agency…and His Trinitarian agency at that. The idea behind this serious “parody” of the hymn was to create meaning not only in what it does say but in what it doesn’t.
